The legend of the wine Est!Est!Est!
The legend has it that in year 1107, the German Bishop named Johan Fugger was travelling to Rome to meet the Pope in hope of being appinted Cardinal.
Fugger was very fond of food, wine and good things in life so he sent his loyal servant Martin one day ahead to seek the best local wine in the towns along the way.
When the servant found an inn serving good wine, he had to mark the door with the word Est! being short from the latin Vinum est bonum! (wine is good).
When the servant got to the town of Montefiascone, he was so impressed by the quality of the wines at one tavern that he wrote on the door: Est!Est!Est!
The Bishop arrived the next day in Montefiascone and he agreed with Martin’s opinion about the wine. He cancelled his trip to Rome to savor Est!Est!Est!
