On the steps of Etruscan Civilization at Bolsena Lake, let’s discover the amazing artefacts dating back to Iron Age and even before. The remains of the Villanova culture, an organic part of Etruscan culture, are present in Orvieto, Vulci, Bolsena, Sovana and even in Bolsena Lake.
Lake Bolsena is the cradle of the Etruscan civilization with the Etruscan settlements stretching from the northern part of the lake from Civita di Grotte di Castro to the southern part of the lake, where there are many Etruscan necropolises of great historical interest like: Pianezze, Monte Landro, Bolsena Castello, Montefiascone, Bisenzio, La Montagna in Gradoli and Bisentina island.
In Lake Bolsena region were discovered many important artefacts dating back to Villanovan culture that is part of Etruscan culture and is represented by the ceramics and bronze objects discovered, jewelry and carved stone tombs.
On the bottom of Bolsena lake lies the Villanovan era settlement of Gran Carro dating back to Early Iron Age that proves the existence of Villanovan culture in this region.
